We are honored to support the Edith Sanford Breast Cancer Foundation.
It is a great foundation that is working to cure breast cancer by decoding the genetic make-up of each woman to make sure the cancer treatments used are effective.

]]><![CDATA[2012 C4YW Conference - New Orleans LA]]>Thu, 12 Jul 2012 20:47:03 GMThttp://fmbreastfriends.com/blogs--events/2012-c4yw-conference-new-orleans-laWhat an adventure and story we have with our trip to New Orleans for the 2012 C4YW Conference in February 2012! All I can say, is that if we were not all determined, strong, amazing breast cancer survivors, we would have never made it! It was a modern day Planes, Trains, and Automobiles Adventure --- it's just a good thing so many of us had "smart phones" to orchestrate our journey to New Orleans. After 24 hours of travel by: Rental Car -- Taxi -- Greyhound Bus -- Taxi -- Airplane -- Tram -- Airplane -- Shuttle.....we finally made it to our hotel in New Orleans just in time for quick showers and registration for the conference.

It was well worth our journey. The annual conference was once again amazing. We all learned so much valuable information during the breakout sessions, we spent much needed "sista" bonding time together, and enjoyed the presence and energy of hundreds of young survivors from around the world.

Next year's C4YW Conference is scheduled for February 22-24, 2013 in Bellevue WA on Seattle's Eastside. Hopefully our journey there will be a little less hectic; either way the FM Breast Friends Survivors will make the best of it!

So many Breast Cancer Survivors in one location; the energy was felt by all! How blessed we all were to be able to experience it with 9 Survivors from our FM Breast Friends Group. Thanks again to everyone that donated to our Support "The Girls" Fundraiser in January -- it was because of your generosity that all were able to attend. What we learned at the conference will benefit those in our support group in the future.

Survivors!

We used this month’s meeting to celebrate as survivors! A big THANK YOU goes out to Pam for planning fun games for us to play! The party would not have been complete without the wonderful treats and beverages: delicious red velvet cake, cupcakes topped with pink cancer ribbon sprinkles, and pink lemonade!

The evening after our support group meeting, some of the survivor sisters took part in a breast cancer discussion panel. Afterwards they decided to celebrate by stopping in at the HoDo Lounge in downtown Fargo. There they saw Ty Pennington from Extreme Makeover Home Edition! Ty accepted a “Save 2nd Base” pin from Survivor Pam; and Ty was willing to take a picture with the group! How exciting!!
